This template categorizes users based on the standard {{user language}} system, but does not display a box. This is intended for users who don't like language boxes, or who prefer to use custom code. For example: {{user language/category|fr|1}} will categorise the page where the box appears under [[Category:User fr]] without displaying the fr-1 box.

The opposite effect (displaying the language box without categorising the user page) is achieved by specifying category= in the User language call. For example: {{user language|fr|1|category=}} will display the fr-1 box without categorising the page where the box appears.
