Hello, Mike. On this edit [1]: I read through the discussion on meta; apart from "using foundation resources for self-promotion", I cannot find any other concrete reason why the page was so bad that it needs to be blanked wholesale. Yet be the links "self-promotional" or not, they point to useful contents, such as pages on Planetmeth.
Surely, on wikiversity, people are allowed to post their Curriculum Vitae? I am curious why you needed to remove the links here. And given such good reasons, why do you need to remove the rest of the content?

- You're welcome to join the discussion of course. All of the content seems to be spammy, and was removed as such. If you think there is redeemable content, please point it out to us. However, given the pattern of abuse, I'm rather less than sympathetic to the idea of permitting such self-promotional content on wikis where the user is not active. - Mike, Look. I have no interest and no opinion in his cross-wiki contributions, which is the subject of the discussion on Meta. I am talking about his userpage on this site. His CV may or may not be appropriate elsewhere, but it is relevant here. en:wikiversity:scholarly ethics and en:wikiversity:disclosures both encourage it. - I'm afraid you misunderstand the issue. My concern, and that of everyone else who has commented on the subject is not the links themselves, but the behaviour of adding them needlessly across many wikis where Jon is not active. If he were active here, I would suggest that the educational content be fashioned into a learning resource proper. Since he's not, there is no need for such self-promotion. No wiki is for promotion of any kind, not even this one; that is a basic tenant of the WMF wikis, and needs no further justification or explanation in my view. - Self-promotion is not welcomed - true, and, if you like, blame google for that. However, I would not classify the links to publications and to resources in PlanetMath as "self-promotion".
