Out of beta

Slovenian Wikiversity

edit

Just reminding The Powers That Be that the Slovenian Wikiversity is still waiting for its content to be imported from here... - dcljr (talk) 08:27, 1 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Waiting that transwiki user in incubator do the transfer. Crochet.david (talk) 15:35, 1 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
done now. Please tell me if any pages still need to be imported. --MF-Warburg (talk) 11:49, 2 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Problems concerning page titles

edit

How is the policy on page titles? Limburgish and Dutch share the same spelling and therefore loanwords are very often problematic. An example would be biologie. Currently, it is impossible to create a Limburgish project about biology simply because the page title is already taken. --Ooswesthoesbes (talk) 09:46, 1 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

maybe use foo (dutch) and foo (limburgidh). Crochet.david (talk) 15:32, 1 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I think I'll drop this at the Dutch community and see whether they think this is a good solution. --Ooswesthoesbes (talk) 12:51, 2 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

IMPORTANT: Admin activity review

edit

Hello. A new policy regarding the removal of "advanced rights" (administrator, bureaucrat, etc) was recently adopted by global community consensus (your community should have received a notice about the discussion). According to this policy, the stewards are reviewing administrators' activity on smaller wikis. To the best of our knowledge, your wiki does not have a formal process for removing "advanced rights" from inactive accounts. This means that the stewards will take care of this according to the new admin activity review here.

We have determined that the following users meet the inactivity criteria (no edits and no log actions for more than 2 years):

These users will receive a notification soon, asking them to start a community discussion if they want to retain some or all of their rights. If the users do not respond, then their advanced rights will be removed by the stewards.

However, if you as a community would like to create your own activity review process superseding the global one, want to make another decision about these inactive rights holders, or already have a policy that we missed, then please notify the stewards on Meta-Wiki so that we know not to proceed with the rights review on your wiki. Thanks, --MF-Warburg (talk) 02:51, 11 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for letting us know. --Sotiale (talk) 10:44, 26 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Please do something to prevent User:Abd from harassing me. He has been edit warring over a section header on my talkpage and shows no sign of stopping even after I posted this warning to him. TeleComNasSprVen (talk) 23:59, 20 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

This is a disruptive user, who was provocatively uncivil, here, similarly to elsewhere, rejected a mild warning, altered the edit, instead of blanking or simply responding or reframing, and who did not accept a compromise consistent with standard user page practice. Calling for sysop action over practically nothing is also a typical behavior. I would not bring this here at this time, but if anyone has questions about what I have done there -- or anywhere, please ask on my Talk page, or warn me if appropriate. Thanks. --Abd (talk) 18:01, 21 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
You have no authority to give any sort of warnings. If you don't want me to alter it, I suggest you don't post any further such "warnings" and retract the present one immediately. TeleComNasSprVen (talk) 18:40, 21 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Any user may warn. Seeing this report, I responded on TCNSV Talk,[1], with diffs showing that, recently warned on en.wv by a custodian, he responded with increased incivility, also denying authority, but only blanked the warnings, and did not alter them. So far, he has respected them.
However, I have now blanked that response. What I'm warning him to avoid is altering the comments of others.
If he doesn't like my comments being on his talk page, he may blank them. He has not asked me not to post to his Talk page. That is the first step in dealing with alleged "harassment," not a request for custodian action.
If my understanding is defective or contrary to Beta policy, please let me know. --Abd (talk) 21:57, 21 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
And now he is threatening to block me, with another revert leaving my comment altered.[2] Would someone give him a clue? He's not going to get it from me! --Abd (talk) 00:29, 22 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
"He has not asked me not to post to his Talk page." By this statement, he's shown to be clearly aware that he's been harassing me without any sign of remorse, and indicates he will continue to do so unless I comply with his demands. Then he continues revert warring on my talkpage even though I've allowed for him above to retract it wholesale if he didn't want me to alter it. Normal users behaving normally would drop the issue after seeing the warning and instead do something else more constructive on Wikiversity, but instead he chooses to make it personal by ignoring the warning. He's been blocked and subsequently banned on Meta for this behavior beforehand, and yet he continues. TeleComNasSprVen (talk) 00:38, 22 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • It's tempting to respond further to the errors and deceptions above, but this is a Notices for Custodians page, not a User RfC, and enough is enough. I'm not adding more, no matter what else he claims, but will respond to any other editor. If I have a need for custodian assistance, I'll come here myself.
  • However, he says that he has "allowed me to retract it wholesale." I don't know what "retract" means, but I'll assume he means to blank it. I will blank my contributions to his page. He may leave his responses hanging if he likes. He could have blanked them all himself, much more easily than all this, and he's often done that. Done. --Abd (talk) 03:47, 22 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Yet he continues harassing me in this latest diff on my talkpage which triggered Special:Notifications instead of contributing usefully to Beta Wikiversity's content like any other normal editors would. He clearly knows he is harassing because I've already warned him, and not only does he disregard my warning he arrogantly claims to speak for me as to what I consider harassment. And his combative behavior compels him to have to write long ad hominem drivels to respond to others' criticism. This behavior should not be tolerated, here or anywhere else. Please block him from my talkpage. TeleComNasSprVen (talk) 23:15, 22 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • perhaps following a misleading site message, this request may have been filed on the wrong page, a more appropriate page would be Wikiversity:Request custodian action/En. I am not recommending that the user do this, but it's his right to request review, and I'm supporting the right. However, from history, it looks like only two custodians are likely to even see the notice, one more than here. I review this situation in User talk:Abd#Beta is broken. Long-term, our structure needs some attention. --Abd (talk) 17:51, 25 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Betawikiversity or English wikiversiy

edit

Who is affected by the problem? betawikiversity or en.wikiversity? If the problem began on en.wikiversity why betawikiversity should get into the story between these two people? If the idea is to get people from betawikiversity in history, I think it is a waste. Crochet.david (talk) 18:11, 25 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, David. The complaint from the user is about behavior here on Beta. My warning on his user page was also about behavior here, so this is about Beta. Where the "problem" began is in a land, far far away, and a time, far far ago. I do think it's a waste. However, if a user takes me to an administrative noticeboard, the norm is for me to reply. But I stopped replying, until I noticed another problem, that the complaint here may be on the wrong page. I cover that on my User talk. But I don't understand what "to get people from betawikiversity in history" meant. --Abd (talk) 20:07, 25 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@Crochet.david: Ce problème a commencé sur Beta Wikiversity quand Abd publié un «avertissement» à ma talkpage qui était hyperbolique et accusatif.[3] J'ai été choqué par elle, donc je changé d'avoir ton plus neutre et l'a averti que s'il «revert war» (guerre d'édition) je lui bloquer de mon talkpage avec l'aide des administrateurs.[4] Il sait que je considère que c'est du harcèlement et il ne m'arrêterai pas moins me conformer à ses exigences,[5] «He has not asked me not to post to his Talk page» - signifie que si je n'écris pas sur mon talkpage il est libre de me harceler quand il veut. Cet hyperlien «Further, even if you were an administrator, you could not actually stop me from editing, you'd just, by blocking me, convert my editing from open and attributed, to block evasion, unless I choose to comply. I choose to comply, normally, with a good faith administrator.»
TeleComNasSprVen (talk) 16:41, 27 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
There is no on betawikiversity, mediation system. If there is a problem between 2 users, it is to these two users to find a situation of "agreement". It is very difficult to "play firefighters" especially in a language that is not the native language, which is my case. So hard to find the right solution: Block everyone to have peace, or wait for "fire" goes out. I do not currently have the solution to your (2 users) problems. (google translate too). Crochet.david (talk) 17:49, 27 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, David, thanks for your response. In my opinion, there is nothing here requiring custodian action. I did not come here with a request. If I were to need custodian action (or steward action), I know how to clearly ask for it, and to provide what the custodian or steward needs. --Abd (talk) 22:21, 27 February 2014 (UTC) (Translation into French)[reply]

Dear Beta Wikiversity custodians.

Hello, I'm posting here to notify that my message at Wikiversity:Requests_for_import#Import_suggestion_of_a_non-English_draft_at_English_Wikiversity is remaining without feedback from the custodians or any other active user at here, no response for more than 2 months. There is no need to hurry, but I don't think I should wait forever. I'm looking forward to hear from the custodians. MathXplore (talk) 05:34, 5 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
